Typewriters. Are they the best invention of all time? Maybe. But even so, do you really need to own one? Why not rent one for a month or two to see if it’s something you will use on a regular enough basis to warrant that purchase?

Electric typewriters are way easier to use than manuals. However, they are noisier.
We like machines that have a little dirt under their fingernails. The restored showpieces are great, but they can be expensive.
